While New York Harbor prepares to welcome the world’s largest gathering of tall ships, one nearby cocktail bar is honoring America’s 250th anniversary one pour at a time.
Lucky Tiger, an Asian-inspired cocktail bar in New York’s Financial District, has launched its own seafaring voyage via The Lucky Tiger Liberty Boat Experience. Created for two, it features pours of some rare Michter’s Whiskey releases alongside Champagne, caviar, oysters, and other curated pairings.
The Lucky Tiger Liberty Boat Experience includes two glasses of Champagne, four 1 oz pours, (served neat, on the rocks, or as an Old Fashioned) of Michter’s 10 Year Bourbon, Michter’s 10 Year Rye, Bomberger’s Declaration Bourbon and Shenk’s Homestead Kentucky Sour Mash; oysters, caviar service, a spicy tuna roll, and spicy tuna crispy rice served on a wooden presentation boat over pebble ice. The boat also features a host of commemorative keepsakes including a 250th anniversary medal, a julep cup, an anniversary whiskey glass, and a hand-signed parchment scroll with the night’s tasting notes and a message from Lucky Tiger.
“We wanted to tell the story chronologically through whiskey—from the original Pennsylvania distillery all the way to modern Michter’s,” said Matt Almodiel, Head Bartender at Lucky Tiger, of choosing Michter’s. “There wasn’t really a flavor strategy behind the selections. It was more about asking, ‘How do we align what we’re pouring with the story we’re trying to tell?’ The fact that we were able to secure these allocated bottles for this experience was pretty remarkable.”
While the experience is primarily inspired by Sail4th, where the largest fleet of the world’s tall ships and gray hull ships will sail into New York Harbor, Lucky Tiger happens to be based in an area that was integral to the founding of America.
“This entire block is part of the historic Fraunces Tavern district. George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and Benjamin Franklin all spent time here, and the Declaration of Independence was drafted upstairs in the Long Room [at Fraunces Tavern],” said Sam Sam Murphy, Owner/Partner of Lucky Tiger. “Because of the historical significance of this block, we wanted to create an experience that celebrated America’s 250th anniversary.”
Available now through July 5th, The Lucky Tiger Liberty Boat Experience is $250 for two, a nod to America’s 250th.
