As summer comes to a close (let that sink in), for this week’s cocktail we wanted to feature a cocktail that you can share with friends… in a safe, socially distant way.
Created by James-Beard Award-winning bar man Chris Hannah, co-owner of New Orleans’ Jewel of the South, the recipe makes 6-8 cocktails depending on your glasses and how you pour.
Ingredients:
- 1 750ml bottle of bourbon
- 5 red sweet navel oranges
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 nutmeg, grated fresh
- 1 bottle of Porter beer
- 1 pint of water
- orange peel, for garnish
Instructions:
Peel the oranges and rest peels with nutmeg and sugar for 1 hour. Add the juice from the oranges, bourbon, water, and beer to large vessel. Mix to incorporate. Strain and serve in large format glass over pebble ice. Garnish with Louisiana flag pick (or the state of your choice), orange peel, and grated nutmeg.
