Republic Restoratives Gets Graphic For Purpose Rye Launch

Republic Restoratives Distillery and Craft Cocktail Bar has partnered with Filmmaker Eric D. Howell to introduce Purpose Rye.

Howell announced his graphic novel based on an award-winning screenplay of the same title, “The Revolution of Cassandra.” The full color, 230-page, novel tells the story of Cassandra, a patchouli-wearing humanitarian, caught in the crossfire of a raging civil war, who must save her tomboy sister from the firing squad by beseeching help from a right-wing gun-smuggler and inadvertently starts her own revolution. It is being released online in six volumes, with the first volume available now to download for free. A complete hardcover edition will be available for purchase in early next year.

“In mythology, Cassandra was granted the gift of clairvoyance and the curse that nobody would believe her,” says Eric D. Howell. “Throughout history, people in power have diminished and created systems against the voices of women, minorities, and the poor as a way to retain control. We have entered a time where those voices will no longer abide being denigrated and unheard – we have entered the Revolution of Cassandra.”

To celebrate the relaase, Purpose Rye is the first single barrel expression from Republic Restoratives and is a limited run of only 100 barrels. This 95% rye mash bill has been aged in American oak for nearly five years, imparting rich notes of caramel, spice, hints of smoke and cocoa nibs.

Every bottle of Purpose Rye sends a donation directly to Fair Fight, which protects free and fair elections around the country.

Purpose Rye is available for order online via Schneider’s of Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
