Pitbull is proving that in addition to being Mr. 305 he’s also Mr. 323 – or whatever area code you associate with Hollywood.
The Grammy Award-winning rapper recently finished his first original motion picture score for the upcoming Gotti biopic, starring John Travolta. In addition to making his debut as a composer, he has also written and performed an original song for the film’s credits.
When Pitbull became aware of the film and expressed interest in contributing music, Travolta responded immediately.
“I could not have been more excited about it when I heard,” says Travolta, who xxx. “Music has played an integral part in the success of some of my biggest films, and Armando is one of the most electric talents in the music industry today. Everything about him: his style, creativity and culture make his scoring of Gotti the perfect marriage of the artist and the material.”
“It’s a true honor to be involved with this project and working with icon John Travolta on the legendary story of Gotti,” adds Pitbull, who was born Armando Perez. “By default, we were underdogs in our own right and found ways to survive against all odds.”
Based on John Gotti, Jr.’s Shadow of My Father, Gotti is the incredible true story of John J. Gotti’s rise to power to take the mantle of boss of the Gambino crime family, and become the most dangerous criminal in modern history.
Directed by Kevin Connolly, Gotti also stars Kelly Preston, Spencer Lofranco, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Stacy Keach, among others.
Gotti will be released on June 15th.
