Canada has some great exports – hockey players, maple syrup and Drake. However, many people often forget how good Canadian whisky is. And apparently, Great North distiller Hiram Walker and Sons Ltd is the best of the best.
The Windsor, Ontario-based distiller was recently named Distillery of the Year at the Canadian Whisky Awards. A number of their whiskies also took home top honors, including J.P. Wiser’s 35 Year Old, which won Whisky of the Year.
The Canadian Whisky Awards recognize very best in Canadian whisky, and are held annually in conjunction with the Victoria Whisky Festival. The competition is judged by an independent panel of whisky experts that selects the winners after tasting each whisky blind.
