Welcome to July! We know, right?!?
A scotch cocktail might not be the first thing you think of when thinking of what to drink on a warm summer evening, but the folks at Aberfeldy might change your mind with this one. Playing off its rich honeyed flavor, the whisky brand created this simple twist on an Old Fashioned with the addition of honey, drawing out the delicious orange and vanilla flavors of Aberfeldy 12.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Aberfeldy 12 Single Malt Scotch whisky
- 2 barspoons (1/2 oz) of local honey syrup*
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
- 2 dashes orange bitters
Instructions:
Add the honey syrup, bitters and Aberfeldy 12 to a mixing glass, then add ice and stir to dilute (~30 seconds). Pour into rocks glass and add block ice, then garnish with an orange twist expressing the oils over the drink. *For honey syrup, boil 100g (approximately 3 1/2 oz) of honey and 64g (approximately 2 1/4 oz) water, stir and leave to chill. Note: syrup will only last 3 days.
