Cocktail of the Week: I’m Not Dead Yet

It’s spooky season this week so we’re governing ourselves accordingly. This cocktail comes courtesy of New Orleans’ Compére Lapin. The name is play on the story involving a man who gave up the recipe in exchange for his life during the Black Plague. You gotta do what you gotta do.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Pinhook Bourbon
  • 1/2 oz Moscatel
  • 1/4 oz Housemade Amaro Blend*
  • 1/4 oz Cocchi Americano Bianco
  • 1/4 oz Averna
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Instructions:

Pour the above ingredients into a mixing glass with ice. Stir and strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a dehydrated orange slice.

*Recipe for Housemade Amaro Blend

Begin by making the Amaro blend by combining 6 oz Antico Amaro Noveis, 6 oz Don Diccio & Figli Luna Aperitivo, 2 oz Cynar 70 and 10 drops eucalyptus bitters. Mix and pour into a glass container.
