Cocktail of the Week: St. Patrick’s Day

We love a good Irish Whiskey neat, on the rocks and even in an Irish Coffee (case in point), but there so many other great cocktails being made with Irish whiskey that we decided to pay homage to them here this St. Patrick’s Day.

Created by Pouring Ribbons’ Joaquín Simó, he describes it as a  “tropical reinvention” of the classic Manhattan. Knappogue pairs well with the bianco vermouth’s herbal notes and Angostura’s allspice goodness. Photo credit: Liz Clayman

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Stir all ingredients and strain into a cocktail glass. For the garnish, take a trimmed lemon peel, express it and insert into glass.

Created by Jackson Cannon of Boston’s The Hawthorne, this too may also remind you of a Manhattan but the sweet sherry notes give it an elevated taste.

Ingredients:

Instructions:
Stir all ingredients over ice and strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a spritz of lemon oil.

Bankers Hill Bar + Restaurant‘s Elizabeth Farrell created this Irish gin cocktail. It’s perfect for the person in your life who claims they don’t like whioskey.

Ingredients:

Instructions:
Stir all ingredients in a mixing glass and strain into a highball glass with ice.

Created by Aaron Deary at R&D, created this light highball riff featuring a classic Irish whiskey.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz POWERS Gold Label
  • 3/4 oz bittersweet Corsican aperitif
  • 1 dash apple bitters
  • 3 oz club soda
  • sprig of rosemary

Instructions:
Build in Collins glass over ice. Garnish with sprig of rosemary, burn it if you’re feeling fancy.
