This week’s cocktail takes us South to Miami… Hopefully, there will be no Florida Man sightings.
Located on South Beach’s Alton Road, Macchialina recently launched its new cocktail program to compliment Executive Chef/Owner Michael Pirolo’s rustic Italian cuisine. There’s a strong emphasis on Aperitivo-style cocktails as inspired by Italian bar culture, while the signature drinks selection offers more unique interpretations of the classics like this one. Bartender Amy Weidig’s cocktail is described as “like a dry Rob Roy and an Old Fashioned had an Italian lovechild.” Enough said.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz the Glenlivet Founders Reserve
- 1/2 oz of mancino secco vermouth
- 1/2 oz of sage simple syrup (recipe below)
- 1 bar spoon of Cynar
- 2 dashes of angostura bitters
- pinch of salt
Instructions:
Pour all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice and stir. Served on the rocks and garnish with fried sage leaves.
For the Sage Simple Syrup, steep sage leaves and stems in simple syrup for 4-5 hours.
