Cocktail of the Week: Smoked Chai Old Fashioned

For this week’s cocktail, mixologist Katie Stryjewski created this autumnal-inspired cocktail in preparation for the cooler days to come. Stryjewski said she wanted to intertwine the rich flavor of black tea and warming spices of masala chai with Legent Bourbon.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 oz. Legent Bourbon
  • 1/2 oz. chai syrup*
  • 1 dash Angostura Bitters
  • 1 dash Cardamom bitters

Instructions:

Ignite 1 tsp. loose leaf chai tea with a torch and cover it with an Old Fashioned glass to collect the smoke. Stir remaining ingredients with ice and strain into prepared glass over one large ice cube. *For chai syrup, combine 1/2 cup brewed chai tea and 1/2 cup brown sugar in a saucepan and set over medium-low heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Let cool before using.
