Bar of the Week: Blue Quarter

Blue_Quarter_Blue_Door
You all have loved our Cocktail of the Week feature so much, that we decided to do another one!

Every week, we’ll be featuring bars that we think you should check out. Whether they’re speakeasies or sports bars, we’ll tell you where they are, what they do well and why you should check them out.

This week we’re starting in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, at The Blue Quarter. This Mediterranean-inspired retreat where bartenders Max Green and Sother Teague showcase their take on classic cocktails as well as new, innovative and exotic creations.

The bar pays tribute to Max Green’s love for tea. His experience of working extensively with bitters at Amor Y Amargo, a well-known craft cocktail bar, motivated him to focus on teas, which also have a bitter character. The Blue Quarter cocktail menu takes shape as a tea den for thirsty revelers with drinks that are a play on tea infusions, tea syrups, or tea on its own, along with several other standouts that pull flavors and colors from the Mediterranean to the Middle East as well as South East Asia.

Our favorite cocktails are the Dragon Punch, a brandy and rum concoction that is infused with black tea; and Soon To Ripen, a scotch and earl grey cocktail. Both are more savory, than sweet so be prepared.
