The Glenrothes has just announced the arrival of The 15, a permanent addition to its portfolio of whiskies.
A complement to The 18 and The 25, this new expression was matured for 15 years in European oak sherry seasoned casks. Throughout maturation, the quality of the 86 proof spirit from every cask is routinely nosed and sampled by Laura Rampling, The Glenrothes Master Whisky Maker, who selects each cask to ensure the balance of The 15 is assured.
“Whilst The Glenrothes spirit is inherently delicate in style, it does not get overwhelmed by the bolder flavours created by maturation in first-fill European oak casks,” said Laura Rampling, Master Whisky Maker at The Glenrothes. “It is this precise and counterintuitive marriage of the delicate and the bold that makes this 15 year old whisky unique, bringing sweet fruit and bright spice together in a deliciously unexpected way.”
The Glenrothes uses oak casks, custom made and seasoned to their specification in Spain. The 15 is 100% naturally colored by the cask, a characteristic trademark of The Glenrothes’ entire portfolio.
The 15 is presented in The Glenrothes’ signature distillery bottle and packed in a dual-layered cylinder that opens to reveal the whisky within. Drawing inspiration from the natural greenery found throughout The Glenrothes Estate, the packaging of The 15 introduces shades of lichen green in a tribute to the whisky’s Scottish Highland home.
The Glenrothes The 15 is now on shelves for $100.
