The Final Game of Thrones Whisky will be Finished in Ex-Bourbon Barrels

Game of Thrones

Diageo has announced the release of the final Game of Thrones Scotch Whisky, The Six Kingdoms, a Mortlach Single Malt Scotch Whisky Aged 15 Years.

PRE-ORDER: ~$175 per bottle at reservebar.com

The Six Kingdoms Single Malt was aged 15 years in first-fill sherry-seasoned casks and finished in American Oak ex-bourbon barrels before being bottled at 92 proof. The name is a nod to the finale episode of the series, when (spoiler alert) the Seven Kingdoms became six. The brand tells us to look for “bold, smooth taste with notes of vanilla and spice befitting of those with a noble palate.”

The previous releases honored the houses of Westeros, the setting of the hit HBO Series “Game of Thrones” based on the books by George R. R. Martin. The first line, released last fall, is full of affordable $30-$60 bottles sourced from distilleries around Scotland. They led into this surprise, high-end release from Mortlach, with black and gold packaging featuring the Three Eyed Raven.

“Eight fantastic scotches toasted the coming of the final season of the show, and we now look back on the most captivating television show of all time and raise a ninth glass in celebration,” said Jeff Peters, Vice President, Licensing & Retail at HBO in a press release this week.

“We saw an overwhelmingly positive response to the launch of the Game of Thrones Limited Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection and as Game of Thrones fans continue to explore both the world of whisky and the world of Westeros, we are proud to introduce the final addition to the collection,” commented Kavita Agarwal, Diageo Global Brand Director, Malts in a press release. “Mortlach is one of our most sought-after super premium single malts, and seemed fitting as the perfect finale to complete the collection.”

The Six Kingdoms Single Malt Scotch Whisky will be hitting shelves in December in limited quantities for around $175 a bottle, but you can pre-order your bottle now at reservebar.com.
