Finding and collecting rare and older bottles of American whiskey may be all the rage, but it often pales in comparison to what scotch purveyors are willing to drop for a rare bottle of their favorite distiller’s latest limited release.

Take for example The Dalmore and its The Dalmore 45. Released this Spring with only 500 bottles, it was said to carry a pricepoint of $12,500.

The Dalmore 45 was handcrafted by Master Distiller Richard Paterson, who used some of the distillery’s rarest aged liquids to create the whisky. Initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, it was then transferred into two different Vintage Graham’s Port Colheita pipes dating from 1961 and 1963 to create layers of flavor. Finally, the whisky was brought together in first fill American white oak ex-bourbon casks.

“By personally selecting the very finest American white oak ex-bourbon casks and Port Colheita Pipes from 1961 and 1963, I have been able to create a truly unique expression which is indulgent and smooth with a vibrant and lively flavor profile,” said Peterson. “It takes time, dedication and passion to create an expression like The Dalmore 45 and age has gracefully matured this distinguished spirit to make it one of The Dalmore’s greatest aged spirits.”

The Dalmore’s use of multiple casks is an example of the distillery’s commitment to cask curation, which focuses on sourcing and utilizing only the best casks from the world’s finest bodegas and wineries.

Presented in a decanter designed by artisans at renowned French crystal house Baccarat, the hand-blown decanters are adorned with The Dalmore’s iconic 12 point Royal Stag emblem produced by Royal Warrant Holders Hamilton & Inches. This Royal Stag is a symbol of the brand’s promise to remain at the pinnacle of single malt.
