Stauning Whisky announces the US exclusive debut of their limited-edition Stauning Rye Whisky Sherry Cask Finish.
With only 800 bottles made, this release marks the first to be available exclusively in the U.S. market. Stauning Rye Whisky Sherry Cask Finish is a twist on Stauning’s classic Danish Rye Whisky, finished in a selection of hand-crafted Pedro Ximenez PX and Palo Cortado Sherry casks, from Jerez, Spain.
Distilled, matured, and 100% floor malted in its Denmark distillery, Stauning Rye Whisky Sherry Cask Finish is double distilled in small direct-fired copper pot stills, and matured in heavily charred new American white oak barrels, designed with simplicity and a respect for nature. Made with local Danish rye and barley using traditional craftsmanship, the Sherry Cask Finish brings rich, vibrant and fruity notes to the classic Stauning character, leading to a distinctive array of flavors. This exquisite expression offers aromas of toffee, salted caramel, cinnamon with notes of Seville orange, black tea, cardamon, ripe figs, tobacco, Demerara sugar.
“This limited release is a testament to our passion for innovation while honoring the traditions of whisky-making” said Lasse Vesterby, Co-Founder of Stauning Whisky. “By finishing our rye in these hand-selected Sherry Casks, we’ve created a whisky that beautifully balances the rich history of Danish grains with the vibrancy of the Spanish casks. And we are so excited to share this whisky with the U.S. market as we continue to grow in the States.”
A leader in Danish whisky distilling and innovation, Stauning Whisky made its U.S. debut in 2023 with the Stauning Danish Rye, with an emphasis on the New York and Chicago markets, with plans to expand to additional markets in the near future. Stauning Whisky Distillery was founded in 2005 by a collective of nine friends setting out to make a difference and bring whisky distilling back to Denmark with a focus on traditional production methods to create whisky reflecting the Danish ethos.
Stauning Rye Whisky Sherry Cask Finish is bottled at cask strength (50.5% ABV) for $74.99.
