Lost Irish Whiskey Celebrates Irish Coffee With Iconic Bar Collab

Today (January 25) is National Irish Coffee Day. To celebrate this beloved cocktail, Lost Irish Irish Whiskey is bringing together two famed bars to host a one-night only exclusive pop-up.

San Francisco’s Buena Vista, credited for bringing Irish coffee to the US in 1952, and the world’s most-awarded pub, New York’s The Dead Rabbit, are teaming to serve up their famous takes on Irish coffees alongside other coffee-inspired cocktails, all made with Lost Irish, for Lost Irish Coffee Day. Attendees will also get to watch speed racks and various preparation techniques as they learn about the history of Irish Coffee and how it was invented in 1943 by Joe Sheridan, a chef at the Foynes airport near Limerick, Ireland.

Credited for putting together this creative collaboration is whiskey expert and Lost Irish co-founder Tim Herilihy, a man so passionate about Irish coffee, he holds the World Record for the largest one ever made at 234 gallons.

Herlihy, who also co-authored From Barley to Blarney: A Whiskey Lover’s Guide to Ireland with The Dead Rabbit, believes like all good ideas, himself and Jack McGarry (The Dead Rabbit’s sole Managing Partner) dreamt up the collaboration over drinks at the bar. “We’re both a part of the Irish diaspora, and bringing the Buena Vista to New York is a great opportunity to spotlight our home and our Irish heritage,” says Lost Irish Whiskey Co-Founder Tim Herilihy. “National Irish Coffee Day comes on the heels of our first anniversary of launching Lost Irish in the US, so we’re thrilled to celebrate all things Ireland, Irish whiskey and Irish Coffee with two of the industry’s experts.”

If you’re in the New York metro area and want to attend Lost Irish Coffee Day, it will be held at The Dead Rabbit’s Taproom, 30 Water Street in Manhattan from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. You must be 21+ to attend and you can purchase tickets ($150 per person) here.
