Glengoyne Celebrates Wood Via Oak Masters

Glengoyne Whisky introduces the its new White Oak range, the debut releases from the newly launched Oak Masters’ Series.

The inagural range includes the Glengoyne White Oak and limited-edition White Oak 24-Year-Old (above). The former (95.6 proof) joins Glengoyne’s core expression range, while the latter (95.6 proof) is aged exclusively in American oak and virgin oak casks. It draws its inspiration from North America, the summer home of the geese that grace the snow-capped hill behind Glengoyne Distillery each winter. Their 3,000-mile migration across the Atlantic inspired the White Oak Series, a celebration of Quercus Alba (American Oak).

“As part of our new Oak Masters’ Series, we are releasing two exceptional Glengoyne whiskies, fully matured exclusively in American White Oak, including a remarkable limited 24-year-old,” says Gordon Dundas, Glengoyne Brand Advocacy Director. “With this new range, we are expanding our core offerings and broadening the taste profile, while staying true to the character that has made Glengoyne celebrated since 1833. Where the traditional range is characterized as sherry-forward, this White Oak range delivers a light and golden flavour profile, with a single malt that is distinctly lighter in natural colour. This is an exceptional range for both long-time fans and new whisky enthusiasts.”

The White Oak Range marks a new chapter for the distillery as it broadens its flavor profile beyond its traditionally sherry-forward style. Fully matured in American Ex- bourbon and virgin oak casks, this series introduces a new dimension to the single malt Scotch.

“Our commitment to the highest quality wood shows in every expression from Glengoyne, and the White Oak Series is a celebration of just that,” said John Glass, Glengoyne’s Master Blender. “I love the balance between the distillery character and the vanilla, coconut, and spice from the bourbon casks. I’ve been eager to create expressions that showcase this style.”

As the first release from the Oak Masters’ Series, the White Oak Range sets the stage for further oak exploration. This series will continue to source virgin oak casks from around the world, each chosen to mature further Glengoyne’s aged single malt to complement its distinctive flavor.

Glengoyne White Oak and the limited-edition Glengoyne White Oak 24 Year Old as part of the White Oak series are available for $59.99 and $399.99, respectively.
