Monday (March 8) marked International Women’s Day. In honor of the day, this week’s cocktail highlights Knappogue Castle Irish Whiskey‘s Women In Whiskey series.
Created by Lucinda Sterling, Managing Partner at NYC’s Middle Branch and Seaborne, this cocktail was inspired by a woman that she very well — her grandmother. “Florence Shotkoski was a sweet, loving, and selfless provider, said Sterling. “She didn’t see this as a sacrifice; alternatively, her aim was all about the service, and dedication to those who were going to battle for a higher purpose. General Patton personally decorated her after the Battle of the Bulge in 1945. In this cocktail, the tasting notes of Knappogue 12 reflect a spark of pepper at the end, a nice finish to a lustrous life led by someone sweet and savory after 98 years.”
